Job Description

This position is located in the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department within the Navy Region Southwest. The MWR Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Navy personnel, their families, and other authorized patrons by providing a variety of recreational and support services. Job Requirements

  • ability to read and understand food service materials
  • basic arithmetic skills
  • knowledge of food preparation methods
  • ability to maintain clean and orderly food service environment
  • adherence to sanitation principles
  • previous experience in food service preferred

Job Qualifications

  • working knowledge of food preparation methods for small quantities
  • skill in cooking a limited variety of prepared foods
  • ability to read and understand food service materials
  • ability to perform basic arithmetic computations
  • knowledge of food characteristics such as color, flavor, consistency, texture, and cooking time
  • skill in planning and coordinating food preparation steps
  • knowledge of sanitation principles

Job Duties

  • perform various duties to facilitate food preparation
  • food service
  • maintain cooking and serving equipment and areas in a clean and orderly condition
  • read and understand written food service material such as food labels and standardized recipes
  • perform basic arithmetic computations for recipe multiplying and serving calculations
  • plan, coordinate and time sequence of steps required for food preparation
  • ensure sanitation principles are adhered to
