Job Requirements

- availability to work weekdays from 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM
- physical ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, sit, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- must obtain FBI fingerprint results, PA Child Abuse History Certificate, and PA State Criminal Record Check clearances
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- college education or work experience in fine art, creative art, interactive media, theatrical arts, education, or related field preferred
- experience working with children
- enthusiasm for public speaking and presenting information daily
- interest in working with children, youth, and multi-generational groups
- strong problem-solving skills
- flexible thinking
- dependable and adaptable
- excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
- ability to remain calm and professional in high-volume visitor settings
Job Duties
- Guide weekday field trips through Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and MuseumLab exhibits
- introduce groups to exhibit spaces
- facilitate playful learning
- provide helpful information to teachers and chaperones
- prepare field trip materials, supplies, and spaces
- assist with group arrival and departure procedures including lunch collection and transport
- engage in regular staff training and professional development
- monitor exhibit spaces for safety concerns, maintenance, and housekeeping needs
- represent the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh positively to the community
- follow museum safety and emergency policies
