Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • five years museum experience
  • two years experience working for a tribal government
  • valid Oklahoma driver's license
  • ability to lift 25 lbs
  • willingness to submit and pass drug test
  • availability to work rotating Saturday shift and occasional evenings and holidays
  • capacity to travel up to 25%

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Oversees day-to-day museum staff and activities
  • develops cooperative and collaborative efforts with tribal, federal, state, and local agencies
  • develops and manages contractual agreements for operations-related services
  • maintains official records and documents
  • ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • informs administration and appropriate tribal departments regarding museum operations
  • attends professional conferences, meetings, or seminars
  • oversees day-to-day financial operations
  • oversees and processes department payroll
  • develops and implements financial management policies and procedures
  • develops the annual operating budget and manages museum within an approved budget
  • consults with tribal administrator and property and procurement regarding major financial issues
  • assists in the completion of independent review audits
  • hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates employees
  • provides direction to employees by assigning responsibilities, delegating duties, and allocating tasks
  • ensures organizational policies comply with employment regulations
  • ensures employees are well-informed
  • disciplines employees according to HR policies
  • oversees marketing and public relations strategies
  • promotes museum image to media and public
  • promotes goals through relationships with community, tribal agencies, cultural organizations, and media
  • monitors public perception
  • utilizes social media platforms
  • oversees implementation and management of collection-related policies and procedures
  • ensures preservation and care of collections
  • approves new acquisition purchases
  • assists in planning and implementing educational and public programs
