Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year of customer service or reception experience preferably in medical office
- proficiency with multi-line phone systems
- ability to multitask and communicate effectively with physicians
- clear speech and adequate hearing
- ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- capable of eliciting correct information to route calls or schedule appointments
- skilled in handling irate callers
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR software
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year of experience in customer service or reception preferably in a medical office setting
- proficient in multi-line phone systems including call transferring and paging
- skilled in diplomacy and tact while multitasking and organizing schedules
- effective communication with physicians
- proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- skilled in practice management/EMR software
- ability to elicit appropriate information for call routing and scheduling
- competent in calming and defusing irate callers
Job Duties
- Greet and interact with patients, staff, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- check patients in and out, collect necessary documentation and demographic information, collect co-pays
- promptly and professionally answer telephone calls, route calls appropriately, offer voicemail or redirection as needed
- schedule imaging appointments by phone or in-person
- use EMR system to match clinician availability with patient preferences
- maintain scheduling system accuracy and completeness
- communicate patient concerns or issues with staff
- explain financial requirements and collect co-pays
- keep reception, patient areas, and break rooms clean and organized
- open and close the office as needed
- facilitate patient flow and communicate delays
- follow all safety and security policies
- maintain confidentiality of keyless entry codes and passwords
- adhere to HIPAA policies
- screen solicitors appropriately
- provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude
- assist in ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of office supplies
- perform other duties as assigned
- verify patient demographics and secure signatures
- assist MRI technologist occasionally
- research and verify patient insurance benefits
- process MRI claims for reimbursement
