Job Requirements

  • Possess a current and valid commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting patients safely
  • Proven mental alertness for driving extended periods
  • Experience or training demonstrating ability to operate motor vehicles safely
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Pass VA physical examination and adhere to VA and DOT drug and alcohol testing guidelines
  • Ability to work in various weather and traffic conditions safely
  • Capacity to handle patients on stretchers and wheelchairs during loading and unloading

Job Qualifications

  • Valid commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement
  • Proven ability to operate motor vehicles safely
  • Experience driving routes and following instructions accurately
  • Ability to assist patients with variable mobility needs
  • Strong reliability and dependability
  • Capability to work under normal supervision
  • Knowledge of safety and vehicle maintenance procedures

Job Duties

  • Operate patient transport vehicles safely to transport patients to and from various medical and private sector locations
  • Assist patients with medical conditions and disabilities during loading, unloading, and transport
  • Drive on predetermined and scheduled routes or special assignments
  • Ensure proper securing of patients, oxygen, and wheelchairs using appropriate devices
  • Maintain cleanliness, inspection, and basic maintenance of vehicles
  • Follow all Department of Transportation and VA guidelines, including drug and alcohol testing protocols
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and vendors regarding schedules and patient needs
