Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to drive safely in various conditions including congested traffic and rural areas
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to assist patients with diverse medical needs and disabilities
- Must pass VA physical examination
- Must comply with VA and DOT drug and alcohol testing policies
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Must demonstrate reliable and safe driving experience
- Must maintain mental alertness while driving
- Must follow safety procedures for patient handling and transport
Job Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate motor vehicles
- Knowledge of vehicle operation and safety protocols
- Ability to follow instructions and interpret specifications related to mobile equipment operation
- Physical capability to assist and secure patients and heavy equipment
- Dependability and reliability in job performance
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Job Duties
- Operate various patient transport vehicles including emergency vehicles and vans
- Drive predetermined or scheduled routes to transport patients
- Assist patients with medical conditions and disabilities during loading and unloading
- Secure patients, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks using appropriate devices
- Adhere to prescribed safety procedures and body mechanics for lifting and moving heavy objects
- Perform vehicle safety checks and maintain mental alertness while driving
- Work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required
