Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- must complete and pass Basic Arrhythmia class and test upon being hired
- CPR certification
- ability to perform multiple duties efficiently
- ability to work under stress in emergency situations
- knowledge of heart anatomy and EKG interpretation
- good communication skills in English
- ability to lift over twenty five pounds
- corrected vision and hearing to near normal range
- manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- ability to sit or walk for extended periods
- ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification
- completion and passing of Basic Arrhythmia class and test
- knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart relating to EKG interpretation
- ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- proficiency in cognitive and psychomotor skills
- ability to perform under stress in emergency situations
- strong time management and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Monitors EKG rhythm patterns and pulse oximetry data to detect abnormal variances
- reviews patient information and accurately interprets basic arrhythmias including PR, QRS, and QT intervals
- sets up central station monitors and ensures all alarms are functioning properly
- promptly responds to alarms and assigns substitutes during breaks
- communicates with acute care charge nurse regarding routine and critical events
- documents patient status and rhythm strips on daily logs and reports
- admits, transfers, and discharges patients using computer systems
- initiates leads on all patients with remote monitoring
- notifies charge nurse when patient rhythms stabilize for monitor discontinuation
- performs disinfecting and infection control procedures
- maintains telemetry monitoring equipment and supply inventory
- educates and collaborates with patient care team to ensure clear signals
- troubleshoots monitor equipment issues
- orients new staff members and assists with peer evaluations
- performs additional tasks as necessary
