Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as CDT, CMA, or RMA or equivalent education and experience
- Two years relevant experience preferred
- BLS certification
- Ability to perform medical assist duties including vital signs and assisting in surgical procedures
- Proficient in medication dosing and mixing
- Knowledge of sterilization and aseptic techniques
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Computer skills for documentation
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow
- Willingness to travel between practice locations
- Ability to maintain OSHA compliance and logs
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent education and experience
- Two years of experience in outpatient surgery center, Mohs dermatology practice, or office-based surgery preferred
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Computer proficiency for clinical information management
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA, and OSHA preferred
Job Duties
- Opens sterile supplies and sets up for each procedure
- Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, height and weight, and assisting during excisions and Mohs surgical procedures
- Assists Mohs surgeon during procedure according to prescribed standards
- Performs proper dosing and mixing of medications including Botox and other preparations
- Sets up procedure room according to prescribed standards
- Assists Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments and hands-on assistance
- Takes and organizes appropriate photographs of Mohs stages
- Performs point of care testing and specimen collection
- Sterilizes and packages instruments
- Maintains procedure room including case preparation and instrument processing
- Communicates courteously with patients, teammates, and the public
- Documents in electronic medical records as needed
- Assists with inventory and equipment storage
- Performs medical assistant duties for non-Mohs dermatology patients
- Performs injections of medications if competent and authorized
- Assists with OSHA compliance and log maintenance
- Manages suture inventory and checks for expiring items
- Records and maintains pathology logbook
- Provides cross coverage and travels to other practice locations as needed
- Upholds company values of positivity, productivity, and professionalism
- Supports APDerm's mission and complies with policies and regulations
- Completes all required trainings by deadlines
