Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • certification as CDT, CMA or RMA or equivalent experience
  • minimum two years clinical experience preferred
  • current BLS certification
  • knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA and OSHA preferred
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency in medical terminology
  • strong problem-solving skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent education and experience
  • two years of experience preferred in outpatient surgery center, Mohs dermatology practice, or office-based surgery
  • BLS certification
  • knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA, and OSHA preferred

Job Duties

  • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for each procedure
  • performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, height and weight, and assists during excisions and Mohs procedures
  • assists Mohs surgeon during procedures according to prescribed standards and anticipates surgeon needs
  • performs proper dosing and mixing of medications such as Lidocaine, Kenalog, Botox, etc.
  • sets up procedure room following standard protocols
  • assists throughout procedures by handling instruments and providing hands-on support
  • takes and organizes photographs of Mohs stages
  • performs point of care testing and specimen collection with quality control measures
  • sterilizes and packages instruments maintaining aseptic techniques
  • maintains procedure room including case preparation and room turnover
  • communicates courteously with patients and staff by phone and in person
  • documents in electronic medical records as needed
  • assists with inventory management of equipment and supplies
  • performs medical assistant duties for non-Mohs patients in dermatology practice
  • performs injections under supervision if qualified
  • assists with OSHA checks and maintains OSHA log
  • manages suture inventory and checks for expirations
  • records and maintains pathology logbook
  • provides cross coverage as needed
  • travels to other practice locations to cover clinical duties
  • maintains a positive, productive, and professional attitude aligning with APDerm core values
  • supports APDerm’s policies, procedures, and compliance with laws and regulations including privacy, data security, and workplace safety
  • completes all assigned mandatory training such as Code of Conduct and OSHA.
