Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • certified dermatology technician (CDT), certified medical assistant (CMA), or registered medical assistant (RMA) or equivalent education and experience
  • two years of experience in outpatient surgery center, Mohs dermatology practice, or office-based surgery department preferred
  • BLS certification required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • certified dermatology technician (CDT), certified medical assistant (CMA), or registered medical assistant (RMA) or equivalent education and experience
  • two years of experience in outpatient surgery or Mohs dermatology practice preferred
  • BLS certification
  • knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA, and OSHA preferred
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • knowledge of medical terminology
  • problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • excellent computer skills

  • organizational and multitasking skills
  • ability to prioritize workload

Job Duties

  • Open sterile supplies and set up for each procedure
  • perform medical assisting duties including vital signs, height and weight, assist during excisions and Mohs surgical procedures
  • assist Mohs surgeon during procedures by anticipating needs and providing hands-on assistance
  • dose and mix medications such as Buffered Lidocaine, Kenalog, Botox, and others
  • set up procedure room according to prescribed standards
  • take and organize photographs of Mohs stages
  • perform point of care testing and specimen collection
  • sterilize and package surgical instruments
  • maintain procedure room including case preparation and instrument processing
  • communicate courteously with patients and colleagues
  • document in electronic medical records (EMR)
  • assist with inventory and storage of supplies
  • perform injections of medications as authorized
  • maintain OSHA logs and conduct safety checks
  • manage suture inventory and check for expirations
  • maintain pathology logbook
  • provide cross coverage and travel to regional practice locations as needed
  • adhere to APDerm core values and compliance standards
  • complete mandatory training by deadlines
