Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as CDT, CMA, or RMA or equivalent experience
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred
  • BLS certification
  • Knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA, and OSHA preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to use critical thinking and good judgment
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to prioritize daily assignments
  • Willingness to travel to multiple practice locations for coverage
  • Ability to maintain OSHA log and complete safety checks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent education and experience
  • Two years of experience in outpatient surgery center, Mohs dermatology practice, or office-based surgery department preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Knowledge of infectious control, HIPAA, and OSHA preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to use critical thinking and good judgment
  • Organizational skills with ability to multitask and prioritize

Job Duties

  • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for each procedure
  • Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, height and weight, and assisting during excisions and Mohs surgical procedures
  • Assists Mohs surgeon during procedures according to prescribed standards and anticipates surgeon's needs
  • Performs proper dosing and mixing of medications including Buffered Lidocaine, Kenalog, Sclerotherapy preparations, Botox-Cosmetic & Hyperhidrosis
  • Sets up procedure room according to prescribed standards
  • Assists in taking and organizing photographs of Mohs stages
  • Performs point of care testing, lab tests and specimen collection, and maintains quality control of testing equipment
  • Sterilizes and packages instruments using proper aseptic techniques
  • Communicates courteously with patients, team members, and the public by phone and in person
  • Documents in the electronic medical system as needed
  • Assists with inventory management and equipment storage
  • Provides clinical assistance to non-Mohs dermatology patients as required
  • Performs injections of subcutaneous and intramuscular medications under supervision
  • Assists with OSHA compliance checks and maintains OSHA log
  • Manages suture inventory and checks for expirations
  • Maintains pathology logbook
  • Provides cross coverage at various locations as needed
  • Supports APDerm's core values and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations
  • Completes all required training including Code of Conduct, Privacy & Data Security, and OSHA
