Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
  • Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Oklahoma Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator or higher)

  • Oklahoma Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
  • Possession of a valid Driver License (Operator or higher)
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • Skill in writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Skill managing time, schedules, and prioritization
  • Skill in using tact and persuasiveness to obtain patient cooperation
  • Ability to work independently and act properly in emergencies
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fire department staff, healthcare professionals, and the public
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, law enforcement, first responders, fire department personnel, and the public
  • Ability to continue EMS education and maintain certifications
  • Ability to assume responsibility for work performed and decisions made

Job Duties

  • Performs emergency field patient care providing basic and advanced medical care procedures in accordance with documented protocols and practices
  • Provides non-emergency paramedic medical care to patients with non-emergent referrals and medical needs
  • Performs in-home welfare checks and assessments for patients with non-emergent referrals
  • Assists patients with scheduling appointments for medical care and provides transportation to scheduled appointments
  • Serves as an advocate for patients by assisting them with access to community services
  • Partners with Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel and Community Health Care Providers and Services to determine patient’s medical care needs
  • Coordinates with Mobile Integrated Health team members and partners to facilitate and provide patient follow-up care
  • Performs other duties as assigned
