Micahs Mission, located in Moorhead, MN, is an integral part of Churches United for the Homeless (CUFH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing homelessness and poverty in the community. CUFH serves as a collaborative coalition working to provide housing, support services, and essential resources to those in need. Job Requirements
- Able to reach, bend, stoop, or frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits following CDC guidelines for handwashing and glove use
- Ability to work full-time including weekdays, some evenings and weekends
- Must maintain up-to-date Serve Safe food safety certification
- Willingness to maintain kitchen certifications and comply with health inspections
- Ability to lead and supervise kitchen assistants and volunteers
- Sensitivity to diverse populations and individual struggles
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Job Qualifications
- Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to struggles related to homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, mental illness, and criminal records
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and cooperatively with a team
- Knowledge of harm reduction, strength-based, and behavior-based models
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Preferred minimum of 2 years applicable experience, preferably in a social service setting with people in crisis
- Strong relationship building skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and good judgment
- Integrity and ethics beyond reproach
Job Duties
- Manage inventory for kitchen operations including ordering food and supplies and organizing the food pantry with attention to expiration dates and safe storage
- Maintain up-to-date Serve Safe food safety training and certification records
- Ensure appropriate training and oversight for volunteers preparing and serving food with emphasis on safe preparation methods and serving temperatures
- Maintain kitchen certifications and ensure compliance with health inspection recommendations
- Maintain kitchen equipment according to manufacturer’s service recommendations and collaborate with facilities and maintenance as needed
- Work with vendors, suppliers, and third-party services
- Maintain accurate statistics on meals served, sack lunches, and food baskets distributed
- Participate in development of annual budget, goals, and needs lists
