Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly
  • complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • performs department-specific tasks such as recording production and shrink in bakery, managing service counter and ordering systems in deli, and serving and packaging prepared foods at customer request
