Job Requirements
- 1+ years experience working front of house duties, banquet or event work, or related experience
- experience in ordering, inventory management, and shrink control
- comprehensive culinary and food prep knowledge

- ability to direct and lead a team
- ability to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, and weekend shifts

- culinary degree or equivalent combination of culinary training and/or experience

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Create and consult on menus based on knowledge of food and food prep, available kitchen capacity, prep and cook times, and event specifics
- train line and prep cooks to help with catering orders
- ensure all government and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met
- assist purchasing and receiving tasks for the total restaurant facility
- prepare required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules in an organized and timely manner
- direct administrative details such as financial operations, dissemination of promotional materials, and responses to inquiries
- consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, special parties, and banquets
- obtain event-related specifications and pertinent information such as number attending, schedule of events, and menu
- create quotes, prepare contracts, secure customer signatures, and collect deposits as required
- regularly review upcoming event function sheets and modify as needed
- document final arrangements with clients, maintain records of event aspects including financial details, and prepare schedules for each off-site event
- direct and supervise breakdown and cleanup after each event
- account for all equipment and supplies and return restaurant items to storage areas
- coordinate event-related services such as transportation, delivery, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing, and others
- requisition equipment and supplies needed for each event, ensuring they meet customer expectations and requirements
- inspect event sites prior to the start of each function including room setup, menu, and service staff
- greet customers prior to the start of each event
- continually observe, direct, and assist staff
- confer with staff at event site to coordinate details and ensure guest needs are met throughout the event
- monitor events to ensure compliance with regulations, laws, and satisfaction of customers and resolve any issues that arise
- return or arrange for return of rented materials
- conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved
- solicit and promote special event business through advertising, cold-calling, contacting past customers, and relationships with local businesses
- apply culinary and food prep knowledge to increase sales and suggest additional H-E-B products and services such as floral and wine
- prepare and complete accurate billing at the completion of functions and collect final payments
- work varying positions in the department as scheduled
- perform other duties as assigned
