Job Description
The Michigan Parkinson Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson's disease in the state of Michigan. With a mission centered on advocacy, education, and support, the foundation organizes numerous programs and services tailored to meet the needs of the Parkinson's community and their families. A central aspect of their fundraising efforts involves hosting five major fundraising walks across Michigan, events that bring together supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and participants all united toward the common goal of raising awareness and funds to advance the foundation's initiatives. Job Requirements
- ability to participate in scheduled shifts on event days
- must be able to stand or walk for extended periods
- willingness to assist event participants and work in an outdoor setting
- basic knowledge of event logistics preferred but not required
- must be at least 16 years old
Job Qualifications
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- friendly and approachable demeanor
- previous volunteer or event experience is beneficial but not required
- ability to manage time effectively during assigned shifts
Job Duties
- check in volunteers and sponsors and direct them to their assigned location or position
- place signage on the walk route
- monitor handicap parking spots, troubleshoot parking issues, and direct guests where to park
- distribute incentive gifts and wristbands to guests
- greet and direct attendants
- set up signage, food, beverages, and paper supplies in the VIP tent and monitor for additional supplies
- set up craft and supplies and oversee craft activity at the Kids Corner
- check in guests, collect donations, and pass out wristbands at registration
- distribute t-shirts to participants
- set up food and beverages and monitor tables to ensure items are replenished and area is tidy
- monitor walkers on route, distribute water, and call for assistance
