Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of related healthcare experience preferred

  • physical ability to stand, walk, talk, hear for 75% or more of work time
  • manual dexterity for using hands and arms, climbing and balancing for 50-75% of work time
  • tolerance to exposure from infectious diseases, chemicals, dust, and radiation
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • ability to use safety equipment including eye protection, face shields, surgical mask and gown, gloves
  • ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods
  • compliance with hospital safety and infection control policies

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training in a healthcare setting preferred
  • experience as an ED Tech or other healthcare role in inpatient or outpatient setting preferred
  • knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • skilled in multitasking and prioritization
  • comfortable with computer and telephone use
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and the public
  • ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • BLS certification
  • care of aggressive patient certification (CPI/MOAB) available upon hire
  • high school diploma or GED

Job Duties

  • Assist with patient assessment and care provision under the direction of registered nurses
  • perform EKGs, finger stick blood glucose testing, and phlebotomy accurately
  • set up and assist providers with procedures including gynecological and rectal exams, laceration repairs, and splint applications
  • assist with patient care such as cleaning, turning, ambulating, and procedures
  • support care of critically ill or injured patients including delivering CPR compressions and obtaining supplies
  • safely place patients on monitors and assist with patient lifting using devices if needed
  • respond promptly to patient call bells and communicate patient needs to providers and nursing staff
  • restock patient care rooms with linens and supplies and prepare rooms for incoming patients
  • monitor portable oxygen tank supply and restock specialty carts such as ENT and suture carts
  • collaborate efficiently as part of a healthcare team and communicate clearly with team members, patients, and families
  • perform clerical duties including transcribing physician orders and managing unit communication
  • answer telephones with appropriate etiquette, take messages, and relay information
  • inventory and order unit stock and supplies
  • assist with hourly rounding and additional duties as requested
  • participate in maintaining safety and infection control as per hospital policies
  • participate in department committees and community activities aimed at improving patient care
  • complete work assignments reliably and on time
  • maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • demonstrate cooperative interactions with patients and colleagues
  • participate in all initiatives for patient satisfaction and quality care
  • maintain accurate documentation and communication during crises and emergencies
