Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year institution in engineering or related field
  • 5 to 10 years of maintenance experience
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred
  • Knowledge of lean or Six Sigma
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of equipment servicing and maintenance planning
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Experience managing a union workforce
  • Willingness to work alternate shifts including early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods up to 8 hours

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years maintenance experience
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Proven record of identifying, recommending, and implementing improvements
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in a unionized workforce
  • Knowledge of equipment servicing, maintenance planning and scheduling, process control, and steam/power operation
  • Working knowledge in project management, industrial engineering, cost analysis, and employee relations

Job Duties

  • Managerial responsibility for technical direction, administrative management, and leadership in the maintenance department
  • Responsible for the management of equipment and maintenance
  • Manages maintenance and capital program maximizing asset reliability, uptime, and cost effectiveness with available resources
  • Manages plant environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manages the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs
  • Manages predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance programs
  • Uses other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of reliability engineering, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes
  • Coaches and develops training plans for direct reports and maintenance employees
  • Supports mill and department goals in safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned
