Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred
  • knowledge of housekeeping functions and standards, including safety and sanitation
  • knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, tools and equipment
  • knowledge of clinic policies and procedures
  • knowledge of common safety hazards
  • skilled in operating housekeeping equipment and machines
  • ability to perform repetitive cleaning operations under indirect supervision
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Job Duties

  • Assembles cleaning supplies and equipment and cleans floors, rooms and offices following established schedules and methods
  • replaces disposables
  • shampoos and vacuums carpets for cleaning and bacteria control, removes spots from carpets
  • assists in cleaning emergency spills as observed or requested
  • sanitizes and sterilizes clinic areas
  • washes ceilings, walls, floors, lights, windows, fixtures, mirrors, counters, office equipment and vents
  • dry and wet mops floors in uncarpeted offices and rooms, scrubs and buffs floor with rotary-automatic machines
  • transports trash and soiled linen from collection points to designated area and distributes fresh linen
  • moves furniture to clean
  • dusts surfaces, damp-wipes furniture, and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms
  • daily checks supplies and orders replacements
  • maintains equipment in a clean and orderly manner, restock supplies as needed
  • identifies and reports any unsafe/unsanitary conditions to supervisor
  • meets with housekeeping team leader on a regular basis to confer on special cleaning needs, problems and work schedule
  • attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested
  • enhances professional growth and development though in-service meetings and education programs
  • other duties as assigned
