Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in broadcast and multimedia news content generation
- Ability to write for broadcast news and digital platforms
- Ability to visualize and create weather graphics
- Understanding of principal journalistic ethics
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Willingness and ability to work in extreme weather conditions while reporting on breaking weather events

Job Duties
- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed and engaging weather forecasts
- Generate creative and engaging, content-driven live shots
- Familiarity with the WSI weather system and software is a plus
- Ability to drive long-form severe weather/event coverage solo or in a team setting, both in the studio and in the field
- Ability to multitask, handle breaking weather/events, and adapt to rapidly changing developments
- Cover other meteorologists' shifts, as assigned, as well as the flexibility to cover shifts during severe weather/events
- Post daily stories to our digital platforms and social media, including online weather discussions to explain complex weather phenomena in an easy-to-understand format
- Be actively involved on the station's social media platforms and responsive to viewer inquiries
- Represent Alaska's News Source at community and station-sponsored events, including school presentations and station tours
- Record shortened daily weathercasts for radio partners
- Work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news management, photographers, and newscast producers to deliver exceptional weather coverage and regular reporting
