Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • ability to work under minimal supervision
  • ability to work in stressful environments and take appropriate action
  • Handle with Care Certification or CPI within 90 days of hire
  • preferred two years of collegiate coursework in relevant psychology and communication subjects
  • preferred one year of healthcare experience
  • effective communication skills
  • critical thinking

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • two years of collegiate coursework preferred in psychology, interpersonal communication, abnormal psychology, or human growth and development
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
  • Handle with Care Certification or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required within 90 days of hire
  • strong critical thinking and judgment skills
  • ability to work independently in a stressful environment
  • prior healthcare experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Monitor patients continuously to ensure safety and well-being as directed by RN
  • implement therapeutic milieu and treatment plans effectively
  • serve as patient observer for individuals requiring any degree of observation
  • carry out general receptionist and clerical duties to assist nursing unit
  • maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
  • communicate observations and concerns promptly to nursing staff
  • respond calmly and appropriately in stressful situations
