Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • must demonstrate compassion toward the poor, needy, and homeless
  • must manifest Christian character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility
  • must display respect, gentleness, and accountability when interacting with crisis guests and recovery program residents
  • must be teachable and function as a team player
  • J03 license required within 90 days of hire
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • standing for extended periods of time
  • occasional bending, twisting, lifting, moving, and walking

Job Duties

  • communicate with the Recovery Services Supervisor regarding resident service assignments and responsibilities
  • track resident movement in and out of the facility and monitor in-house resident visitations
  • help residents to resolve conflicts and become solution-oriented with the problems they experience
  • look for opportunities to make referrals to the appropriate staff for follow-up counseling
  • be vigilant for any inappropriate behaviors such as smoking, drugs and/or alcohol possession or use, threats or physical violence, thievery, and/or weapons
  • exhibit non-threatening conflict resolution amidst guest or resident disputes
  • enforce program principles and procedures in a spirit of compassion and respect
  • document any and all corrective actions, filing where designated, and routing copies when appropriate
  • manifest vigilance in helping to prevent accidents, acts of violence, and/or crisis situations
  • note and correct hazardous situations or refer them to the Recovery Services Supervisor
  • notify appropriate local emergency personnel when needed and call the Recovery Services Supervisor as indicated
  • defuse and/or refer incoming crisis telephone calls, documenting for follow-up
  • attend monthly Recovery Program staff meetings
  • attend trainings, staff meetings, or seminars as suggested by the Recovery Services Supervisor
  • attend required first aid, CPR, and/or fire safety trainings
  • supervise functions needed in preparation for evening cleaning crew
  • perform all other duties as assigned
  • take every opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests, and residents
  • invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors
  • pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors
  • ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission
  • handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant
  • memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values
  • participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and spiritual gatherings
  • support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism In Service training
  • participate in annual spiritual growth training
