Job Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent college education
- two years of relevant experience or full-time recreation experience with adults
- Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification or commitment to obtain
- strong passion for senior care
- knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia
- excellent communication skills
- proficiency in basic computer applications
- ability to manage multiple tasks and time effectively
Job Qualifications
- Associate degree or two years of college majoring in social work, nursing, psychology, gerontology, therapeutic recreation or related field, or two years of full-time recreation experience with adults
- Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) or willingness to obtain certification
- passion for working with seniors
- basic understanding of Alzheimer’s and dementia-related diseases
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- time management skills
- basic typing and computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and creative software
Job Duties
- Interview prospective staff for memory care programs in the absence of the Memory Care Director
- provide outstanding customer service to residents, families, and visitors
- assist with compliance to state and federal memory care regulations
- demonstrate knowledge and skills required for the position
- relate professionally to residents, physicians, regulators, visitors, and associates
- communicate staffing issues to Memory Care Director and management
- attend monthly associate and bi-monthly regional memory care meetings
- participate in weekly tracking meetings for resident care updates
- ensure residents are groomed and dressed according to preferences
- provide habilitation therapy training and dementia-related in-services
- design and implement therapeutic recreational programs
- plan and lead activities for memory-impaired residents
- coordinate transportation for outings and special events
- work within budgetary guidelines for programs
- assist with special event planning
- maintain program supplies and purchase adaptive materials
- maintain a list of local entertainers
- assist with memory care tours and marketing
- develop and distribute monthly newsletters
- supervise dining room and ensure proper dining arrangements and adaptive devices
- assist with family education and monthly support groups
- maintain frequent positive communication with families
