Job Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination based on background investigation
- personnel security investigation required
- position requires interaction with children and youth under 18 on a recurring basis and may have specific background and periodic re-verification requirements
- must consent to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide recognized exemption
- pre-placement medical examination may be required
- immunization screening including Hepatitis B required for positions with direct patient contact
- moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds required
- proof of U.S. citizenship must be provided
- male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete Selective Service registration
- direct deposit of pay required
- one year trial/probationary period may be required
- selection may be subject to Department of Defense referral system restrictions
- position designated as mission essential requiring availability during emergencies
Job Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes clerical and/or receptionist duties such as receiving patients, scheduling appointments and maintaining records
- four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
- a combination of education and experience may be used to qualify as long as the computed percentage of requirements is 100 percent
- ability to type 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors
- education obtained from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Job Duties
- Enter, manipulate and/or retrieve information and data from automated systems
- receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically
- obtain identifying information and determine the nature of the visit/call
- maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules for the clinic/practice
- perform the full range of receptionist, record keeping and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting
