Job Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination as determined by a completed background investigation
- Personnel Security Investigation is required
- Position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements due to interaction with children and youth under 18 years of age
- Selectees must consent to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide recognized exemption
- Pre-placement medical examination may be required
- Immunization screening required including Hepatitis B for direct patient contact
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 20 pounds is required
Job Qualifications
- Experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service with clerical and/or receptionist duties including receiving patients, scheduling appointments and maintaining records
- Education of four years above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
- Combination of education and experience equating to 100 percent of the requirements
- Typing proficiency of 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors
- Education from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
Job Duties
- Enter, manipulate and/or retrieve information and data from automated systems
- Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically
- Obtain identifying information and determine the nature of the visit/call
- Maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules for the clinic/practice
- Perform the full range of receptionist, record keeping and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting
