Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required
- 1+ years of experience working in medical office or administrative/clerical position
- Previous experience or ability to work with electronic health records
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks preferred
- Ability to handle fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office
- Proficient typing skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 1+ years of experience in medical office or administrative/clerical position
- Experience or ability to work with electronic health records
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Proficient typing skills
- Organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, multitask and manage priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information in compliance with HIPAA
Job Duties
- Welcomes and greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone
- Assists patients with check in process
- Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient arrival and reviewing service delivery
- Schedules appointments for new and recurring patients based on staff and provider availability
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records
- Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock, placing orders, and scheduling repairs
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Calls patients to remind them of upcoming appointments and to help schedule off-site testing
- Maintains a welcoming reception area that is clean and comfortable
- Provides timely and thorough follow-up with internal and external customers
- Appropriately escalates difficult issues up the chain of command
- Participates in committees or process improvement teams to enhance quality and customer satisfaction
- Recognizes trends that fall outside quality parameters and alerts supervisors
- Performs self-quality monitoring and provides ongoing feedback
- Collaborates cross-departmentally to improve procedures
- Develops or improves internal processes
- Trains new employees as assigned
- Follows other instructions and performs duties as requested by supervisor
