Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
- knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- excellent keyboard skills
- proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products

Job Duties
- Greet and communicate with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
- answer telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
- verify active primary and secondary third-party payer insurance coverage eligibility with the payers via prescribed format
- process calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member or provider in a timely manner
- schedule patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
- accurately register patients ensuring that required information is obtained confirming identity, address, phone numbers, PCP, insurance, co-pay and other pertinent information
- prepare exam rooms and provide clerical support to providers and staff
- assist with post-operative patient visits and take vital signs
- update electronic health records and manage incoming and outgoing faxes
