Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience in medical reception or billing environment
- knowledge of insurance verification and medical benefits processing
- strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office
- ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting
- attention to detail and accuracy
Job Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (not required)
- ability to interpret and accurately understand medical benefits, with a strong focus on Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
- demonstrated experience in charge entry, insurance verification, and benefit collections strongly preferred
- strong customer service skills with the ability to multitask in a high-volume setting
- prior experience in a medical practice or billing department (orthopaedics a plus)
- high attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- longevity and growth in previous positions highly valued
- proficiency with EMR systems (Athena/EPIC/Phreesia or similar), Microsoft Outlook, and related programs
- critical thinking, professionalism, and articulate communication skills required
- bilingual Spanish strongly preferred but not required
- professional references required
Job Duties
- Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients and families
- answer phones, manage high call volumes, and schedule appointments efficiently
- create, update, and maintain accurate patient accounts
- perform insurance verification and benefit eligibility checks
- accurately process point-of-service collections and charge entry into EMR systems
- assist with accounts receivable follow-up and benefit collections
- support clinic preparation and day-to-day administrative operations
- provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and providers
- collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic flow
