Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in medical reception or billing environment
  • knowledge of insurance verification and medical benefits processing
  • strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office
  • ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • attention to detail and accuracy

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (not required)
  • ability to interpret and accurately understand medical benefits, with a strong focus on Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
  • demonstrated experience in charge entry, insurance verification, and benefit collections strongly preferred
  • strong customer service skills with the ability to multitask in a high-volume setting
  • prior experience in a medical practice or billing department (orthopaedics a plus)
  • high attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • longevity and growth in previous positions highly valued
  • proficiency with EMR systems (Athena/EPIC/Phreesia or similar), Microsoft Outlook, and related programs
  • critical thinking, professionalism, and articulate communication skills required
  • bilingual Spanish strongly preferred but not required
  • professional references required

Job Duties

  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients and families
  • answer phones, manage high call volumes, and schedule appointments efficiently
  • create, update, and maintain accurate patient accounts
  • perform insurance verification and benefit eligibility checks
  • accurately process point-of-service collections and charge entry into EMR systems
  • assist with accounts receivable follow-up and benefit collections
  • support clinic preparation and day-to-day administrative operations
  • provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and providers
  • collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic flow
