Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • less than 1 year relevant work experience
  • ability to follow guidelines and procedures
  • basic computer skills
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to manage multiple tasks under guidance
  • willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts
  • ability to assist patients, families, and staff with clerical and receptionist needs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • less than 1 year relevant work experience
  • basic knowledge of customer service principles
  • fundamental awareness of patient documentation
  • fundamental awareness of telephone skills
  • ability to communicate effectively and courteously
  • ability to use technology and follow unit guidelines

Job Duties

  • Processes orders according to guidelines
  • follows computer downtime procedures
  • enters and updates information in computer system to assure current information and retrieves data accurately
  • maintains unit log according to guidelines
  • makes follow up appointments
  • performs discharge related clerical tasks
  • responds to patient call system and patient requests providing clear, current information to families, visitors and staff
  • uses telephone, patient call system, beeper/paging system, fax/copy machine, scanning, unit specific monitoring devices and pneumatic tube system to facilitate flow of communication, equipment and supplies
  • orders, maintains and uses supplies in a cost effective manner
