Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
- knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- excellent keyboard skills
- proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
- accuracy and dependability

Job Duties
- Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
- answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
- processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner
- schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity
- manages patient check-in and check-out procedures
- verifies patient insurance information accurately
- collects copayments at the time of service
- assists with chart preparation and maintains accurate patient records
- handles referrals and obtains prior authorizations when required
