Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in customer service or administrative roles preferably in healthcare settings
- Strong knowledge of insurance plans and payment procedures
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with computerized appointment scheduling
- Exceptional data entry and typing skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Job Duties
- Greet incoming patients using friendly, respectful communication
- Obtain and document up-to-date demographic information for patients including insurance and license information
- Accept patient payments and document transactions accurately
- Collect necessary co-pays from patients enrolled in various insurance plans
- Maintain accurate transaction batches on credit card machines and balance cash drawers
- Assist billing office with problem resolution as necessary
- Notify clinical staff that patient has arrived using EMR
- Make patients aware of any unusual appointment delays
- Answer incoming phone calls with proper etiquette
- Manage necessary forms for patient appointments including scanning, printing, assembling, and mailing
- Use computerized appointment scheduling systems to schedule follow-up and ancillary appointments
- Prioritize telephone encounters
- Monitor automated confirmation calls and update EMR
- Work flexibly and collaboratively with team members
- Use Windows-based applications proficiently
- Transcribe and enter data accurately
- Maintain excellent typing skills and document patient encounters precisely
