Job Duties
- Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and pleasant manner
- maintains pre-admission files
- prepares patient charts prior to admission with accurate identifying data
- checks and verifies patient information for accuracy and authenticity
- attaches necessary notifications on patient charts such as deposits required
- greets patients on the day of admission and reviews data
- instructs and obtains patient signatures on insurance consignment forms
- completes receipts for payments and deposits
- contacts admitting nurse upon completion of business office admitting procedures
- obtains patient records after discharge and prepares files for filing
- reviews records for completeness and files incomplete charts for physician signatures
- reports any adverse incidents to the administrator
- performs sitting, standing, and walking during on-duty time
- works in a well-lighted and ventilated area with light, non-hazardous equipment
