Job Duties
- Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and pleasant manner
- maintains pre-admission files
- prepares patient charts prior to patient admission
- gathers all chart forms and types identifying patient data on each sheet
- prepares patient chart files complete with name, doctor name, and patient number
- checks and verifies all information for accuracy and authenticity
- attaches necessary notifications on patient charts
- greets patients on admission day and reviews data for accuracy
- instructs and obtains patient signatures on insurance consignment forms
- completes receipts for deposits or payments
- contacts admitting nurse after business office procedures
- obtains and prepares patient records after discharge
- reviews records for completeness
- places incomplete charts in physician files for signatures
- performs other related duties as assigned
- reports any adverse incidents to the administrator
- sits, stands, and walks during on-duty time
- works in well-lighted and ventilated area with light, non-hazardous equipment
