Job Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English with fluency in both languages
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Active and valid driver’s license upon hire and throughout employment
  • Ability to learn and practice office procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain professional working relations
  • Excellent customer service skills with clear and concise speaking ability
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment
  • Ability to file alpha and numerically
  • Experience with computers, scanners, printers, and fax
  • Willingness to rotate between office and remote work
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to file documents both alpha and numerically
  • Experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines

Job Duties

  • Check-in patients upon arrival including updating demographics, insurance information, collecting co-pays and patient balances, and providing health questionnaires
  • Check out patients by collecting additional balances, providing visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal access, completed forms, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Verify patient insurance status and contact patients if insurance is inactive or primary care provider is not appropriate
  • Post patient charges and payments and complete charge and payment reconciliations
  • Scan and upload documents into the Document Management system
  • Sort and deliver mail and prior authorization documents, and maintain clean work and patient waiting areas
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings
