Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience in medical field
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively in busy setting
  • Knowledge of Medicare and insurance systems
  • Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems
  • Must be flexible and team oriented
  • Good computer and typing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Valid and unrestricted Tennessee driver’s license
  • Proof of current automotive insurance
  • Ability to stand or walk for 8-10 hours daily
  • Ability to lift 10-15 pounds
  • Ability to perform routine bending, pushing, pulling and twisting
  • Ability to distinguish between numeric numbers
  • Comfortable working in office environment with limited exposure to communicable diseases

Job Duties

  • Follow sign-in procedures and verify completeness of new/update patient information sheet
  • Enter new patient information or update established patient data
  • Check insurance status, eligibility, account information and vital statistics
  • Complete necessary paperwork and have patients sign eligibility forms
  • Receive co-payments and fee-for-service payments and handle cash management
  • Complete opening and closing of reception area with attention to cash and forms
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of waiting and reception areas
  • Monitor and communicate patient wait times
  • Answer incoming calls and handle patient concerns or route to appropriate personnel
  • Order front desk supplies and maintain a clutter-free, professional front office
  • Coordinate staff time off and keep site manager informed
  • Communicate office hour changes and monitor patient flow for reporting
  • Manage billing and collections processes to maximize efficiencies
  • Promote a professional atmosphere for employees, patients and visitors
  • Monitor tracking of outstanding lab, diagnostic, and referral orders
  • Assist site manager with organizing staff meetings and daily communications
  • Report housekeeping and facility issues to management
  • Notify appropriate parties of physician call schedule changes
