Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
  • prior experience with secretarial or receptionist duties preferred
  • knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • computer literacy and proficiency with word processing software
  • ability to operate office equipment such as copier, printer, and fax machine
  • ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • self-directed with strong attention to detail
  • ability to maintain confidentiality
  • willingness to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Operates an efficient entrance point into the patient care area
  • takes initiative to greet, escort, and meet needs of visitors/customers using positive, effective personal/professional communication skills
  • consistently screens visitors per unit policy for infectious disease and appropriateness of visitation
  • answers telephones, routes calls to appropriate persons/area, and takes messages professionally, timely, and accurately
  • provides the unit with secretarial support including filing, copying requests, organizing educational materials, and maintaining unit materials
  • distributes and organizes information/communication for the unit including phone lists, call schedules, and forms
  • types minutes, reports, and presentations with attention to detail, accuracy, sentence structure, flow of content, and presentation style
  • assists the unit in staffing services such as calling in staff, canceling shifts, and preparing staff assignment sheets and collating careplans for change of shift
