Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs
  • strong sense of accountability and focus on teamwork
  • dedication to ongoing education and delivering quality patient care
  • prior receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office preferred
  • experience with Epic electronic medical records system preferred
  • CPR certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Receives and directs all communication courteously and consistently
  • adheres to HIPAA guidelines and office policy
  • answers phone calls quickly and directs appropriately
  • greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
  • assists patients with the sign-in process
  • supports financial responsibilities including verification of reimbursement and billing procedures, preparing bank deposits, and signing daily cash receipts
  • monitors office supply inventory and orders necessary supplies
  • manages patient check-in process including verifying demographic information, collecting copayments, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining referrals, and entering data into billing systems
  • manages patient check-out process including posting charges and payments, collecting balances, and scheduling future appointments
  • promotes patient satisfaction through friendly and helpful interactions
  • maintains accurate filing and record systems
  • assembles new patient folders and manages records according to protocol
  • adapts work schedule as needed to meet practice demands, including working additional hours and cross covering
  • serves as a pre-loader for Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • performs other duties and projects as assigned
  • adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior
