Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a medical receptionist highly preferred
  • Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Knowledge of insurance industry
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA standards and policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a medical receptionist preferred
  • Experience in a medical practice or ambulatory environment preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance industry highly desired
  • Strong computer skills

Job Duties

  • Greet, welcome, and register patients while minimizing and solving wait times or other reception area issues
  • Collect, verify, and document patient information including demographics, validation of identity, insurance details, intake forms, and prior authorizations
  • Collect signatures on documents such as HIPAA privacy statement, consent forms, authorization for treatment, and release of information
  • Accurately identify fee scale/co-pay determinations and process visit charges, co-pays, deductibles, previous cash balances, and overdue payment notices
  • Manage incoming phone calls, emails, messages, and referrals to completion and in a timely fashion
  • Prepare for upcoming visits including review of next day activities, visit reminders, document preparations, form completion and chart flags
  • Perform appointing functions such as scheduling, cancellations, reschedules, visit cycles, and wait lists
  • Conduct patient check-out duties including scheduling next appointments and providing patient education handouts and instructions
  • Maintain medical records with timely input of incoming scans, documents, or test results
  • Work with healthcare team to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow and operations
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide constructive input for improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
