Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
  • excellent keyboard skills
  • proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
  • accuracy and dependability

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
  • answer telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
  • process calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member or provider in a timely manner
  • schedule patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
  • perform patient registration and insurance verification
  • collect copay and point of service payments
  • complete pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • prepare charts and manage incoming and outgoing faxes
  • provide clerical support to providers and staff
