Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Minimum one year experience in a medical provider's office as a receptionist or medical assistant with administrative responsibilities preferred
- Ability to operate modern office, computer, and telephone equipment
- Ability to sit for long periods
- Ability to travel independently across healthcare facilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Positive and cooperative attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support certification
- Minimum one year experience in medical office administrative role preferred
- Proficiency in using modern office, computer, and telephone equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret policies, regulations, and instructions
- Understanding of provider office operations
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Job Duties
- Open office (unlock doors, turn on all equipment, etc.)
- Disconnect answering service and relay messages
- Answer telephone in a timely manner
- Take and deliver messages within 30 minutes
- Check patient reminder system and call patients who have not confirmed appointments
- Greet patients and vendors in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist patients with check-in, update demographic and insurance information, and scan documents into EMR
- Provide Medicare and Medicaid patients with necessary billing documents and obtain signatures
- Verify and update insurance authorizations
- Schedule patient appointments
- Process patient discharges per policy
- Participate in quality programs including telephone communication and documentation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of waiting room
- Verify and update daily transactions
- Balance credit card terminal at day end and prepare transaction report
- Monitor, maintain, and order office supplies
- Maintain provider meeting schedules
- Manage daily office mail
- Process medical record release requests
- Maintain and balance petty cash
- Work assigned hours using time and attendance system
- Support hospital mission, values, policies, and ethical standards.
