Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • current basic life support certification upon hire or at orientation
  • minimum one year experience in a medical provider office as receptionist or medical assistant with administrative responsibilities preferred
  • ability to travel independently throughout healthcare facilities
  • small motor skills for operating computer and office equipment
  • ability to sit for long periods
  • proficiency with modern office and computer equipment
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to read and interpret various documents including policies and regulations
  • ability to interact professionally with co workers hospital staff administration patients physicians public and all customers at all times

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • open office unlock doors turn on all equipment and other preparations
  • disconnect answering service and facilitate messages
  • answer telephone in a timely manner
  • take messages and deliver to appropriate person within 30 minutes
  • call patients to confirm appointments one day prior if not confirmed
  • greet all patients and vendors professionally and courteously
  • assist patients with check-in including updating demographic and insurance information
  • scan insurance cards and HIPAA documents into electronic medical record system
  • provide Medicare and Medicaid patients with provider based billing information and obtain necessary signatures
  • verify and update insurance authorizations before appointments
  • scan patient medical record information into EMR system as assigned
  • schedule patient appointments
  • process patient discharges upon approval as per policy
  • comply with and participate in quality programs including telephone communication and documentation
  • provide clear and concise documentation in the EMR system
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of waiting room at least twice daily
  • verify and update financial transactions by end of same business day
  • balance credit card terminal and run transaction reports daily
  • monitor office supplies and place orders as per instructions
  • maintain providers meeting schedules and days off in the computer
  • facilitate daily office mail including date stamping and distribution
  • process release of medical records requests as established
  • maintain and balance office petty cash and request reimbursements
  • work assigned hours and use time and attendance system for payroll
  • demonstrate knowledge and support of hospital mission vision values policies standards and ethical code
