Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a medical receptionist or customer service role preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology is a plus
- Ability to handle money responsibly
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 4:45 pm
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology
- Working knowledge of patient confidentiality procedures
- Basic computer experience including electronic scheduling systems and Microsoft Office
- Energetic personality with a professional demeanor
- Strong communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and multitask effectively
- Empathy and genuine concern for patient care and comfort
Job Duties
- Greet patients as they arrive
- Answer all incoming calls and direct the call to the appropriate staff person
- Take patient payments over the phone and process credit cards for payments
- Check clinic voicemail and route messages as appropriate
- Process the chart for each patient and update with necessary paperwork
- Collect appropriate copays, refraction payments, and old balances
- Secure all monies collected and complete cash receipts
- Ready charts for work-ups
- Schedule and reschedule appointments
- Maintain daily hard copy of schedule for clinical staff
- Confirm next day appointments with patients
- Maintain new patient packets and send mailings when requested
- Keep patient waiting area clean and organized with necessary materials
- Maintain front office supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
