Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting
  • Valid and active driver's license
  • Ability to learn and apply Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and basic medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to maintain professional and excellent phone etiquette
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Physical ability to perform duties including standing, sitting, manual dexterity, and lifting 10 pounds or less
  • Flexibility to work designated hours including evenings and every other Saturday
  • Willingness to travel 15-20 percent to other office locations as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
  • Ability to interact effectively and maintain professional working relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to greet and receive patients and visitors professionally and warmly
  • Professional phone etiquette with clear and concise communication
  • Good judgment with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically
  • Experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines

Job Duties

  • Check in patients upon arrival, update demographics, insurance information, primary care provider and pharmacy details, collect co-pays and patient balances, provide consent forms and health questionnaires for signature
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Verify patient insurance through batch eligibility or on demand, contact patients with inactive insurance or inappropriate primary care provider
  • Post patient charges and payments, complete charge and payment reconciliation
  • Scan and upload documents through the document management system
  • Sort and deliver mail and prior authorization documents received by courier
  • Maintain a clean work and patient waiting area
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings
