Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least one year of current front office experience preferably in a medical office setting
  • Strong phone and computer skills with working knowledge of practice based medical office processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated communication skills written and verbal
  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines
  • Knowledge of medical information and electronic medical records systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work as required

Job Duties

  • Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner in person or over the phone
  • Obtains accurate patient demographic information and updates records in the computer system
  • Scans or copies patients' driver’s license/ID and insurance cards for electronic health record
  • Requests payment at time of service and provides receipts
  • Answers multi-line telephone calls, schedules appointments, takes messages and handles referral requests
  • Maintains office operations by following electronic health record and office policies
  • Assists with printing/copying medical records and verifies insurance eligibility
