Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience in a medical office environment
  • Knowledge of billing procedures and insurance verification
  • Data entry skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with managed care plans and referral processes
  • Extensive organization skills
  • Pleasant manner
  • Ability to manage and complete work assigned by several staff members
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 lbs
  • Compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies
  • Adherence to PHMC policies and infection control guidelines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Responsible for all front desk functions in a primary care setting
  • Schedule appointments
  • Schedule specialty and ancillary appointments
  • Answer phones
  • Complete managed care referrals
  • Obtain pre-certs when needed
  • Responsible for patient registration data entry
  • Verify insurance
  • Daily batching of encounter forms
  • Log referrals in the tracking system
  • Follow up for reports from specialists
  • Arrange transportation when needed for patients
  • Assist patients when needed
  • Review the patient's charts and encounter forms for completion
  • File reports, file charts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
