Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One year of experience in a medical office environment
- Knowledge of billing procedures and insurance verification
- Data entry skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with managed care plans and referral processes
- Extensive organization skills
- Pleasant manner
- Ability to manage and complete work assigned by several staff members
- Flexibility
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 lbs
- Compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies
- Adherence to PHMC policies and infection control guidelines

Job Duties
- Responsible for all front desk functions in a primary care setting
- Schedule appointments
- Schedule specialty and ancillary appointments
- Answer phones
- Complete managed care referrals
- Obtain pre-certs when needed
- Responsible for patient registration data entry
- Verify insurance
- Daily batching of encounter forms
- Log referrals in the tracking system
- Follow up for reports from specialists
- Arrange transportation when needed for patients
- Assist patients when needed
- Review the patient's charts and encounter forms for completion
- File reports, file charts
- Perform other duties as assigned
