Job Requirements

  • Active and valid driver's license upon hire and for duration of employment
  • Ability to file alpha and numerically
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to sit, stand, lift or carry 10 lbs or less
  • Ability to reach outward and above shoulder
  • Good vision, sense of sound, touch, and smell
  • Ability to adhere to organizational information security policies and protect sensitive information including ePHI and PHI
  • Willingness to work patient-facing, indoor environments
  • Ability to travel 15-20% to other office locations as needed per company policy

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associate procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate with patients, providers, and staff in written documents
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
  • Ability to interact effectively, support staff, and maintain a professional working relationship
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Maintain professional and excellent phone skills and etiquette, able to speak clearly and concisely
  • Use good judgment and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Experience using computer systems, scanner, printer, fax

Job Duties

  • Check in patients upon arrival, which includes updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collecting co-pays and patient balances, and providing consents for signature as well as appropriate health questionnaires
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and follow-up appointments
  • Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand, contact patients whose insurance is not active or PCP is not appropriate
  • Post-patient charges and payments, complete charge and payment reconciliation
  • Scan and upload documents through the Document Management system
  • Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier, maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings
