Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or valid work permit for ages 15-17
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical or physician office or customer service environment preferred
  • Understanding of insurance verification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including phone etiquette
  • Proficient in patient care procedures and organizational policies related to position
  • Service-oriented and courteous approach
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer systems including EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to compute mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work effectively with various organizational members and diverse populations
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential patient and organizational information
  • Ability to travel to other office/practice sites and trainings
  • Successful completion of competency-based training program within introductory and training period.

Job Duties

  • Greets individuals arriving at the office courteously and ensures their needs are met
  • Obtains patient registration information and verifies insurance eligibility
  • Prepares charts for visits in accordance with protocols and notifies clinical staff of patient arrival
  • Completes patient forms accurately and collects payments
  • Posts charges to the billing system
  • Retrieves and files EMR/paper charts and miscellaneous reports
  • Answers telephone with proper etiquette and relays messages promptly
  • Schedules and confirms appointments according to office protocols
  • Assists with clinic reschedules and contacts patients
  • Sends out necessary new patient paperwork
  • Works the daily Work Queue
  • May oversee payment and charge posting balancing
  • Supports overdue report management and patient outreach
  • Maintains neat work area and waiting room
  • Attends meetings and training as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Provides intake and scheduling support for refugee patient populations
  • Communicates with service coordinators and providers
  • Coordinates qualified medical interpreter services
  • Serves as primary contact for refugee patient-related inquiries
  • Enters demographic data and prepares intake reports
  • Follows up on digital campaign applications and patient paperwork
  • Signs up applicants for seminars.
