Job Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year medical office experience preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • proficiency in using office equipment and computer systems
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • able to stand and sit for extended periods
  • able to lift or carry up to 10 lbs
  • able to travel 15-20% to other office locations as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • active and valid driver’s license upon hire and throughout employment
  • ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols
  • proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills
  • ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions
  • knowledge of computer and medical terminology preferred
  • ability to interact effectively and maintain professional relationships
  • excellent customer service skills
  • professional phone skills and etiquette
  • sound judgment and confidentiality
  • ability to file both alpha and numerically
  • experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner
  • check in patients by updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collect co-pays and balances, and provide consents and health questionnaires
  • check out patients by collecting additional balances, providing visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • verify patient insurance via batch eligibility or on demand and contact patients with inactive insurance or incorrect PCP
  • post patient charges and payments and complete charge and payment reconciliation
  • scan and upload documents through the document management system
  • sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier
  • maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area
  • participate in staff and educational meetings
