Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Valid and active driver’s license upon hire and for the duration of employment
  • Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associates procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
  • Ability to interact effectively and maintain professional relationships
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to file records alphabetically and numerically
  • Experience using computer systems and office equipment such as scanners and printers
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds
  • Must be willing to work after-hours schedule as required

  • Ability to interact effectively and maintain professional working relationships with staff
  • Provide excellent customer service including greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
  • Maintain professional phone skills and etiquette, able to speak clearly and concisely
  • Use good judgment and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically
  • Experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines

Job Duties

  • Check-in patients upon arrival, including updating demographics, insurance, primary care provider (PCP), and pharmacy information
  • Collect co-pays and patient balances and provide consents and health questionnaires for signature
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Verify patient insurance through batch eligibility or on-demand checks and contact patients with inactive insurance or inappropriate PCP
  • Post patient charges and payments and complete charge and payment reconciliation
  • Scan and upload documents using the document management system
  • Sort and deliver mail and Pediatric Associates documents received by courier, maintain clean work and patient waiting areas
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings
