Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or valid work permit for ages 15-17
- 1-2 years experience in medical or customer service environment preferred
- Understanding of insurance verification
- Excellent communication skills including phone etiquette
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems including EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to compute mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Ability to work with diverse populations including patients and staff
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Ability to drive to other office/practice sites
- Successful completion of competency-based program within training period
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or valid work permit for ages 15-17
- 1-2 years experience in medical or physician office or customer service environment preferred
- Course work in insurance/billing or medical practice education is preferred but not required
- Excellent written, verbal, and face-to-face communication skills including proper phone etiquette
- Proficient with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of patient care procedures and organizational policies
Job Duties
- Greet all individuals arriving at the office courteously and ensure their needs are met
- Obtain necessary patient registration information and verify insurance eligibility
- Prepare charts for patient visits and notify clinical staff of arrivals
- Accurately complete patient forms, collect payment, and ensure charges are posted to billing system
- Retrieve and file EMR/paper charts and miscellaneous reports
- Answer telephone in accordance with telephone etiquette, taking and relaying messages in a timely manner
- Schedule and confirm appointments based on office protocols
